As part of the ADB (Asian Development Bank) Germany Roadshow 2026 organized by Agency for Business and Economic Development (AWE) and German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV), German RETech Partnership e.V. is organizing a Circular Economy Roundtable in Lindlar, Germany. The event brings together German companies, with a particular focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for an in-depth exchange on circular economy projects, procurement opportunities, and market prospects across the Asia-Pacific region.

The session will provide practical insights into ADB’s growing engagement in circular economy initiatives, including waste management, recycling, waste-to-energy solutions, and resource efficiency. Participants will gain a better understanding of how German expertise and innovative technologies can contribute to ADB-financed projects while exploring opportunities for future cooperation and business development.

Panelists

Omar Abdel-Rahman

Project Director, BlackForest Solutions GmbH

Omar Abdel-Rahman is a waste management and circular economy expert at BlackForest Solutions GmbH, where he serves as Project Director overseeing multi-country assignments. Since 2019, he has worked across the Middle East, North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa on waste sector policy, regulation, and institutional design, supporting governments, regulators, and development partners. His work spans national waste strategies, regulatory frameworks, licensing reforms, and policy design for Extended Producer Responsibility. He holds an M.Sc. in Air Quality Control, Solid Waste and Wastewater Process Engineering from the University of Stuttgart.

Klaus Hanuschke

Project Manager, GOPA Tech

Klaus Hanuschke is a civil engineer specialized in sanitation and solid waste management, with around 30 years of professional experience. More than 22 years of his career have been dedicated to international development programmes in the waste management and circular economy sector. He spent 11 years working in the Philippines and Vietnam, supporting SWM planning, policy development, financial viability, and university-level curricula. At GOPA Tech, he serves as Project Manager in the Waste Management and Circular Economy cluster, leading donor-funded projects worldwide.

Dr.-Ing. Jovana Husemann

Steering Global Business Development & Sustainability, NAUE Group

Dr.-Ing. Jovana Husemann steers NAUE Group’s global business development strategy and sustainability agenda. She has extensive experience in multinational environmental infrastructure projects, including international bank-funded initiatives, strategic growth programs, and complex project development. Her work is shaped by international financing frameworks, with a focus on environmental compliance, resilience, and long-term operational value. She brings together technical, strategic, and policy perspectives to deliver high-impact, actionable solutions.

Björn Lövenich

Head of Sales Waste Recycling Division / STEINERT GmbH EMEA, India, Asia, STEINERT GmbH

Björn Lövenich is a recycling expert with almost 15 years of industry experience. As Head of Sales EMEA, Asia and India Waste Division at STEINERT GmbH and STEINERT UniSort GmbH, he specializes in mechanical recycling and sensor-based sorting technologies. He is responsible for the sales strategy of innovative sorting solutions that support the efficient recovery of recyclable materials. He is also a regular speaker at specialist conferences on modern sorting technologies and sustainable recycling processes.

Michael Ludden

Managing Partner, Sutco RecyclingTechnik GmbH

Michael Ludden is the Managing Partner of the LM GROUP, an internationally active group of companies specializing in environmental and recycling technology. The group includes Ludden & Mennekes, Sutco RecyclingTechnik, unoTech, and TIG Automation, covering the collection, sorting, compaction, and automation of processes across the circular economy value chain. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of the VDMA Waste and Recycling Technology Association (VDMA ART) and as a board member of RETech. He actively promotes technological innovation, sustainable resource management, and the international advancement of modern circular economy concepts.

Objective

The event aims to strengthen awareness of ADB procurement and business opportunities within the circular economy sector, showcase current project approaches and investment priorities, and support German companies in strategically positioning themselves for projects across the Asia-Pacific region. The roundtable will also foster dialogue between German industry representatives and ADB experts to identify opportunities for future collaboration and sustainable project implementation.
