From October 20 to October 24, 2025, German Industry and Commerce, in cooperation with the German Business Delegation for Central Asia and German RETech Partnership e.V., will conduct a business initiation trip to Uzbekistan on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). This is a project-related support measure. It is part of the Environmental Technologies Export Initiative and is being carried out as part of the market development program for SMEs. The target group is primarily small and medium-sized German enterprises (SMEs).
Uzbekistan generates around 7 million tons of household waste every year. Of this, only 1.8 million tons, or 26%, is recycled by 307 recycling companies. The “Strategy for the Management of Solid Household Waste in the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Period 2019-2028” has been in place since 2019. The Uzbek government is striving to establish a modern and efficient waste processing system, which means that Uzbekistan’s waste disposal and recycling policy is becoming increasingly important every year.
German technologies offer great business opportunities in Uzbekistan, as there is a high demand for efficient waste disposal and recycling solutions. Modern waste disposal facilities, waste transfer stations, and sustainable recycling processes are particularly in demand. In addition, opportunities are opening up for German companies to introduce effective waste management strategies. The growing demand for sustainable recycling systems for secondary raw materials, as well as for expertise and technologies for municipal and industrial waste treatment, further strengthens the market potential.
