Waste Management and Recycling in Tanzania and Zanzibar: Business Opportunities for German Companies

From 30 November to 4 December 2026, AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd., in cooperation with Bondacon International GmbH, the German RETech Partnership and the German Association of Consulting Engineers (VBI), will organize a business initiation trip on waste management and recycling to Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE).

The programme is aimed at German SMEs offering technologies, equipment and services in the fields of waste separation, recycling, organic waste treatment and circular economy solutions. Participants will gain first-hand market insights and benefit from individually arranged B2B meetings with potential customers, business partners and relevant public stakeholders.

Tanzania and Zanzibar are facing growing challenges in waste collection, disposal and recycling, while demand for modern waste management solutions continues to rise. Driven by tourism growth, infrastructure development and the implementation of Tanzania’s National Waste Management Strategy 2025–2030, the sector offers promising opportunities for German companies.
